  • Symphonic and Intermediate class parents: Please ask your child for the Oct. 6th MHS Gold Form. The bottom portion (keep top for reference) is due back to the band room by Thursday, 9/21. Thank you! Also, if you read the top portion, you must request a blue form in advance in order to check out your child at end of parade that morning...please have your child ask for that now if this will be the case for you the morning of the 6th.
  • If you are watching the parade, Hobbs band is starting at Community Center and ending at MHS band room. The parade itself starts at 10:30. If you are checking out your child (blue form people only) make sure you are at the MHS band room parking lot near 11:15 and find the chaperon with the checkout list - you must sign your signature for your child to be officially checked out there. Tubas, percussion, euphonium and F Horn players will leave their instruments @ MHS after the parade in the west Math building across from the MHS band room. All students who did not fill out a blue form in advance will load buses immediately and ride back to Hobbs for lunch and 5th and 6th periods.

  • For the night performance with MHS Band on the same day, Oct. 6th - Please have your child in the small stadium BEHIND the MHS band room by 6:00 p.m. Their case can stay in your car to make checkout go faster, so bring only instrument. Please remember what pickup location you marked on the gold form: 1 group is being checked out in the stadium after half time where the band sat with MHS band. 2nd group is being checked out at the MHS band room after half time. Estimated time for "after half time" is 8:45 p.m. so please be ready then. For both groups, the parent or pre-designated adult must sign their signature on the chaperon list in charge of your checkout location. Thank you!

  • For both performances on Friday, all students are to wear their band shirt, shorts and tennis shoes with socks. The shorts, shoes and socks can be any color, but the shirts must be the matching band shirt.

  • A BIG Thank You to Lynne Barton, Sunny Harvey, Clare Colo'n, Renee' Byrd, Sondra Cooper and faculty member Mr. Hernandez, who joined me in prepping and painting the band room after the county installed new acoustic panels but couldn't finish the walls. If you haven't seen the band room, it looks fantastic and new! Thanks to those helpers for teaming up and making it happen for the first day of school. Also, thanks to Robert Ward and Mr. Bienkowski for their ladder donations!

  • If your returning band student intends on auditioning for Florida All-State Band, you must have either take Summer Lessons from Mr. Colo'n or from an area music store that offers private lessons on the All-State requirements. When school starts, it is too late to prepare for All-State auditions which occur in September. (All-County auditions will be later in the year and a goal to set by late October)
